Luxury design label Jill Stuart is seeking design interns who are available 3-5 days a week to work with the design team for the Jill Stuart Collection.
Design candidates should have a strong interest in womenswear and high-end contemporary market, strong sketching abilities for freehand & computer – flats, etc. Must also be fully comfortable sourcing fabrics and trims. Basic knowledge of garment construction, pattern-making, Illustrator & Photoshop as well.
Design interns will be working closely with the Jill Stuart design team and will assist design office & showroom: fabric swatching, trim sourcing, mood boards, inspiration research, hand sewing, pattern-making, sketching, maintain relevant department files, and other duties dependent upon experience and capabilities.

Must be available to begin within August or September and commit 3-5 days a week.

**DESIGN INTERNSHIP**

We are seeking enthusiastic design interns to work in a fast past environment who will assist the design team in creating the show collections and special projects.

As a design intern you will do a multitude of tasks including:
Assisting with sewing, patternmaking, and draping
Sketching and rendering designs
Developing sewing techniques and fabric manipulations
Use of computer programs to develop various ideas
Source fabrics, trims, and other items in the garment district
Help with organizing, cleaning and general upkeep of studio

Qualifications:
Ability to use industrial sewing equipment, Strong sewing skills are greatly appreciated
General patterning and draping knowledge
Ability to identify different types of fabric
Attentiveness, reliability, and attention to detail,
Ability to closely follow instruction and to work independently,
Strong time management and organization
Willingness to learn new skills and help teach others

Additional recommended skills:
Drawing of technical flats by hand
Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft excel, Adobe Photoshop & illustrator
Experience in Fabric Dying
Familiarity with the garment district

All internships are unpaid and the student must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university. If you are offered an internship you must be able to produce proof that you will receive academic credit for the internship.

We ask for a commitment of least three (3) full weekdays a week, for at least three months would prefer full time if possible. We are especially seeking those who are available for an immediate start.
